Background
Tori Hensley (she/her), graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2013 with a Bachelors in Family Social Science, and have spent the last decade working primarily in the Child Welfare field. She has spent much of her career serving individuals impacted by the child welfare system; specifically providing relative and kin caregivers with support, advocacy and education as they navigate the complexities and challenges of the system. Hensely began her career in Child Welfare at EVOLVE Family Services; where she worked as a Foster Care Family Worker, Lead Foster Care Family Worker and Foster Care Program Manager.
Today, she works as a Child Welfare Trainer for Hennepin County and a Foster Parent Educator for the MN Child Welfare Training Academy. Hensely develops curriculum and facilitates training on the violent and oppressive historical roots of the child welfare system, disparities and disproportionalities within the system and how to participate in direly needed system changes. She is deeply passionate about educating Child Welfare staff and Foster Parents on how to engage in anti-oppressive practices and is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for EVOLVE, the organization that ignited her passion and helped to develop her into the child welfare professional she is today.
