Mental Health Therapist
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me. I am so grateful for your trust. Seeking therapy can be a big step, but I truly look forward to working with you.
I believe it is important to honor the life experiences of each of my clients and recognize their individual cultures, traditions, values, and goals in our work together. I will work in partnership with you to identify what you hope to accomplish through our time together. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, but I will work alongside you to support you in whatever ways I can.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Social Work from St. Olaf College and my Masters's degree in Social Work from the University of Minnesota. I am a licensed social worker and a certified parent coach. I spent several years helping nonprofits with program evaluation and development before discovering my passion for providing direct therapeutic support to help individuals and families thrive.
As a social worker, I believe that all individuals are part of a larger environment, including a family, community, and larger society. All of these dynamics are important and can influence how we live in the world. My practice is focused on supporting my clients in the context of these relationships. I enjoy working with children, youth, young adults, and adults and have a special interest in relationships between children and their caregivers/parents. My approach is strengths-based and person-centered. Depending on your needs and goals I may apply methods from psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, family systems theory, cognitive theories, and others. All of us are unique and therefore my treatment approach will be, too. I also believe that systemic factors like racism and historical trauma have a significant impact on the health of many in our community, and it is my goal that my practice be anti-racist and anti-oppressive.
I love learning new things and am always seeking better ways to do my work. I am open to your ideas and feedback and will always be willing to adapt to make sure you are getting what you need. True progress happens in the context of relationship, so it is important to me that you feel comfortable, respected, and valued. I look forward to working with you!
On a personal note, I am a mother of three busy boys. I love cooking, baking, and being outside as much as possible, especially during the first signs of Spring in Minnesota.
