The topics covered in this training will include: Openness, State Laws, ICPC, ICWA, understanding the experience of expectant parents and preparing for first conversations, discipline, talking with children about adoption, and sexual abuse. The afternoon portion will focus on infant adoption outreach options & concrete ways to get started. This program is for EVOLVE clients only.

Our International Adoption Education is for families preparing for international adoption. Topics covered include an overview of the international adoption process, reasons for placement, country-specific information, the impact of orphanage care on children, an overview of sexual abuse, preparing for placement, discipline, and re-parenting hurt children, assessing child behavior, talking about adoption with your child(ren), post-placement and post-adoption resources.

CORE Education

In CORE, Families will learn about core topics to prepare them for adoptive and foster parenting. You will learn about the impact of trauma, abuse, neglect, and prenatal substance exposure on child development as well as attachment, birth family dynamics, understanding grief and loss, and preparing for placement.
