Culturally Responsive Parenting is a class centered around the understanding of racial and cultural differences for Black children in the foster and adoptive care systems. This is for caregivers of Black children who are working towards gaining knowledge about the nuances of Black culture, community, representation, racism and more. The group will be held for four weeks and is designed to be an ongoing conversation for caregivers. The in-person sessions will be facilitated by Elliott Manago-Lawler, LICSW, PMH-C every Tuesday in June from 6-7 PM at the Minnesota Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bloomington, MN.

Meet the facilitator: Elliott Manago-Lawler, LICSW, PMH-C
Elliott Manago-Lawler (Odendahl) (she/her) is a clinical social worker/therapist and adoptee in private practice specializing in trauma, perinatal mental health and supporting individuals & families affected by foster care & adoption. Elliott has a special passion for supporting transracial adoptees and working to bridge the gap in knowledge and services to better meet the unique needs of the community.

UMOJA MN is a MN Department of Children, Youth and Families funded program for families and caregivers of Black children and youth who are adopted or fostered in MN.
