Ellie’s Story

At 22 years old, Ellie was experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. After finding out she was pregnant, she started to look into her options. ‘When I decided to do adoption, my mom and I started to look for adoption agencies and I came across [EVOLVE].” Adoption is something that Ellie is no stranger to, having been adopted herself. She was so thankful that EVOLVE didn’t pressure her into making any decisions she didn’t want to and was paired with Kelli, a social worker at EVOLVE. “We’re basically sisters… Kelli has been so helpful and supportive in this process,” said Ellie.
Although she looked through every couple’s photo book, her mother knew that Katie and James were the couple Ellie was going to choose from beginning. “Katie and James are amazing; they are one of the best things that have happened to me and I couldn’t be more happy to [know them].”
Ellie had come into her adoption plan very sure that she wanted a closed adoption but has since changed her mind. She keeps in contact with her son’s adoptive parents; seeing them a few times a year and receives photos and updates. “They don’t make me feel excluded or like I’m not his birth mother,” said Ellie, sharing that later in August they were meeting up for a birthday dinner. Because of the support EVOLVE gave Ellie, she was able to make a decision that was best for her and her son. Ellie has since graduated with a bachelor’s degree from South New Hampshire University and has been accepted into a master’s program for clinical psychology
