EVOLVE Thanks Retiring Volunteers

On April 12, 2018, EVOLVE Adoption & Family Services recognized the hard work and dedication of volunteers Edie and Vern Hophan with a celebratory breakfast.
The two retired as volunteers after about five years. The two are familiar faces around EVOLVE’s Stillwater office. They’ve volunteered to pack birthday packets for children, and Vern has helped with some maintenance in the past.
Edie was always delighted to learn when a child expresses thanks for the birthday gifts she and Vern help pack.
The birthday packets they helped assemble were mailed to children in our system ages 5, 10 and 15. They contain a small gift for the child and age-appropriate parenting tips along with a schedule of our upcoming parent support or events.
Edie has told us she “just loves to do mailings!” Whenever we have heard from a child expressing thanks for the birthday gift, she has been delighted.
Edie and Vern started volunteering for EVOLVE Adoption & Family Services after they saw an ad at the local senior center. Edie said they continued coming back because they felt connected to the people and to the cause.
“I’m impressed with the agency overall,” Edie said.
“I’ve learned a lot,” she added.
EVOLVE is grateful for Edie and Vern, along with all of our volunteers!
