EVOLVE invites you to celebrate National Parents Day on July 26, 2020!

National Parents Day is always celebrated on the fourth Sunday in the month of July. This is a day, aside from Mother’s and Father’s Day, to recognize all parents and everything that they do for their children.

At EVOLVE, we work diligently to unite children with families who will love, support, and value them as individuals. We also recognize that the idea of “family” is evolving every day, and each family is unique. One thing parents have in common is the love for their children. They love, support, and care for their children from childhood to adulthood. On this day every year, we recognize all of the amazing different parents in the world, celebrate the teamwork that comes with raising children, and just overall support of all parents.

National Parents Day is a relatively new celebration. This is a day that has only been celebrated for about 26 years. This holiday was not celebrated until the year 1994, when a Congressional Resolution was signed, “recognizing, uplifting and supporting the role of parents in bringing up their children.”

Ways to Celebrate Parents (for kids and adults):

Give them a call.
One very simple way to show your appreciation is a phone call. You may not always be able to go visit your parents in just one day, but everyone can pick up a phone and make a quick phone call.

Write them a letter or draw a picture.
Another way to acknowledge your parents and everything they do for you is to write them a letter, send a card, or draw a picture. Sometimes all the nice things you want to say are easier said on paper. A letter or picture is an easy way to completely express your thoughts and feelings. This is something that can be saved and cherished for a long time after this day.

Go for a visit.
Parents love getting visits from their children. Spending quality time with your family is a good way to show your appreciation. You can take photos of your gathering and remember this day forever.

Aside from these simple ways of showing your appreciation, there are many other things you could do to show your love and appreciation to your parents on this day. Make it unique. Make this day your own. This day can be a celebration that you make tradition and do every year with your family.
